There truly is nothing like baseball in California summer. What a perfect day to get dirty. Oh yea.we couldn't get dirty cause some non-baseball person working for the school filled in the base-paths with Grass!!! What the hell is that? Thanks to Mike Mello and Matt Schmuck for their versions of the games I could not attend.

Yomuri Giants (Schmuck-Miller) 8 vs Oakland A's (Boomer-Vigil) 3
by Matt "Tenner" Schmuck

Another great game from the Yomiuri boys.  Led today by Chilly's outstanding pitching, not to mention his three hits. Chilly takes the hill, and proceeds to deal for six straight innings. Except the two walks and two hit bats-men in the 2nd inning. That was the A's only run against Chilly. By the way, Chilly went ahead and struck out the side after putting four batters on base without a hit.

Of course like always our defense was pretty good today. Not to mention, the fastest I've ever seen Sally-Jo Haines move. Foul ball straight up, only about 10-feet behind home-plate. Haines starts running towards first then ever so slowly rounds back to finally make a great catch on the ball. My favorite part was when Sally-Jo fell down and her skirt flew up. Nice panties.

Speaking of Sally-Jo, best line of the day yelling in his best Andy Devine voice back at Chilly after a ball sails past him "That's not a 3!". Carl comes in the last two and holds the game. The A's did their part today by walking us 10-times. Leuders-Line got on three times by walks, and got two Ribbies.

Philadelphia A's (Mello-Luis) 7 vs Saint Louis Giants (Moochy-Weishaar) 5

It Ain't Over Till The Fat lady Sings.

Well that Big Women was Singing the Blues in the Giants Dugout Sunday Afternoon,  Meanwhile Coach Dandy Don ( Merideth ) Luis was singing turn out the lights, the partyyyyy‚ over in the A's Winning Dugout. A great day for Baseball. Everyone played their ‚A Game Sunday.
1st off,  Hoop pitched Perfect ‚A Game baseball the 1st 3 innings of the game. Hoop gave up 1 run on 3 hits over 3 full, Then got knocked out of the game by a wicked, up the middle shot off the leg. Hoop was shaping the 1st 3 innings of this game into what should have been a great pitching outing for the day. How was the Leg Hoop ???  Now On with the game highlights.

The 1st 4 A's batters got off to a slow start in the 1st, with no hits or runs. The Giants managed to find 1 run in the lower half of the 1st.  In the Top of the 2nd. Mello Yellow led off with a 2 base hit down the left field line. Rod Oehrlein followed with another double to center field moving Mello to 3rd . Now here comes Dandy Don to the plate. Don stroked a Sac fly to center scoring Mello for his first RBI of the game. Not much else happened for The A's in the top of the 2nd.  Hoop threw a bucket of goose eggs at the Giant's leaving them scoreless in the 2nd. Now into the top of the 3rd . It was raining base hits for the A's. Patrick "My Man" Macias led off with a sharp base hit.  Mike ‚"bye bye" Byron roped another single moving up Macias. Dave Ga Ga Gayner smacked an RBI base hit scoring Macias and moving up Byron. Mello got his 2nd hit and a RBI scoring Byron. Don Luis drove in Gayner on a RBI fielders choice. In the top of the 3rd Hoop faced 6 Giant batters while giving up no runs once again. In the top of the 4th for the A's, Rene "loverboy" Lovato smoked a single up the middle, but was left stranded on the bases to close out the 4th.  In the bottom of the 4th, the Giants lead off batter hit a shot back to the mound injuring Hoop and knocking My Brotha from anotha motha out of the Game. The A's inserted Dave Gayner into the pitching spot and Dave basically mowed down the next 3 Giant batters for another no run inning. Mike Byron led off the 5th inning for the A's with a base hit, followed by another hit by Dave Gayner. Mello worked the pitcher for a full count walk loading them all up. Luis came up and grounded to 1st allowing Mike Byron to score from 3rd. This would be Luis 3rd RBI of the game. The inning ended with the A's pushing only 1 run across the plate. The Giants threatened a bit in the 5th with a couple of walks but ended up with another goose egg in the lower end. The A's held the Giant's nicely with some great double play ball. Gamson and Oehrlein jelled like peanut butter and jelly at 2nd and short. In the 5th For the 2nd time of the day when the Giant's began to threaten, they played the middle infield exceptionally well letting the air out of the Giant's on a couple of occasions with the Duo getting 2 double plays and Rod Oehrlein getting an additional solo double play with some more great effort at short. The A's managed 1 run in the 6th from Purcell Hall's base on balls combining with base knocks by Macias and Gayner. The rascally Giant's really threatened in the bottom of the 6th with a couple of base hits along with 5 walks generating 4 runs and tightening up the score. The A's decided to insert Huston ( Dave Gamson ) Street into the pitchers slot during the bottom of the 6th.  Gamer shut Em down with no more damage to the A's. After 6 full the score was A's 6 and the Giant's 5. Going into the 7th inning the A's were shut down while only sending 4 batters to the plate. Dave Gamer-Street shut the Giant's down once again facing only 4 batters also. In the top of the 8th for the A's, Mike Byron drew a walk, Mello pushed Byron up with his 3rd hit of the day. Rod Oehrlein also pushed the baserunners up reaching on an error. Luis Ripped another base hit Scoring Mike ( the insurance run ) Byron. This made the score A's 7 Giant's 5. Big man of the day, Dave Gamson faced only 5 batters in the bottom of the 8th and put the Giant's to rest. Sending a well deserved win the A's way. This was a well played defensive game by the A's and everyone contributed at the plate.. Congrats A's there will be a lot more wins as the year goes on.

KANGAROO COURT

#1. Mike Hughey and Frank Weishaar for not giving their team's side of the story....

#2.. Chilly. the rule is don't make the last out at Third. First inning, Chilly tries to take an extra base with two-outs and get caught in a pickle. The best part was watching that 50-year old run you down. So, it's a dollar fine for making the third out at third, but also a dollar fine for being run down by an old guy.

#3. Finally, Big Lorne Johnson, DUDE!.bases loaded, the A's are walking us left-and-right! Big [it ain't!] Johnson swings at the first pitch grounding out to the pitcher. That's a Buck rally killer!

PLAYERS MAKE SURE YOU CALL YOUR COACHES WELL BEFORE NOON ON THURSDAY TO LET THEM KNOW IF YOU'RE GONNA PLAY. THERE'S LOTS OF POOL PLAYERS WHO WILL TAKE YOUR PLACE.
