It was hot and muggy in Game #1... Pleasant in Game #2....and Game #3 was windy and cool. Game #1 took a long time and all the games were delayed 30 minutes. I'm glad I missed the outfield and all the goose crap.

Game #1
'62 Giants (Terralini's) 13 vs Saint Louis Giants (Hughey-Weishaar) 10

Coach Terra always says "No lead is safe!" Mostly because the '62 Giants rarely have one!!! Ah, but today was different as the '62 boys rebounded from an atrocious 6th inning performance where every infielder (all 6 of 'em) made at least one bonehead play and stuck it to the St Louie boys who chose to have their one-bad-inning in the top of the ninth giving the '62 guys 8 runs and the game. Frank Weishaar baffled the '62 Giants for six innings and gave way to Lynn Lefevre who suffered team torture in the 9th for the undeserved loss. Randy Saladana hurled for three innings giving way to Mark "unearned runs" Gemello who literally stuffed the Giant Birdmen over the last three for the win.
Mark Gemello and Matt Schmuck led the '62 Giants with 3-hit days apiece while Diablo Terra and the soon to be nuptualized Dave Decruz had two hit salvos in support. John Haines got the GWH while Drew Greenlee, Don Dewitt, and Rick Venegas chipped in solo singles for the winners.

Ben Chen and Rolly Hofstedt belted out 2-hits each to lead Saint Louie while Frank Weishaar showed that his new metal bat is going to be a force to be feared with a long double to deep left center. Steve Conroy and Mike Hughey each added singles to the Bird Giants.

Game #2
Yomuiri Giants (Schmuck-Miller) 11 vs San Francisco Giants (Bennett-Lee) 9 (8 innings)

In a lively, highly competitive tussle, the Yomuiri Giants outlasted the San Francisco Giants. Many of the players from Game #1 continued in this game playing on different teams. Carl "Chainsaw" Vargas saw through the SF order for six innings and John Haines floated the ball for the final two baffling some of the SF guys. Heath Keller worked six hard innings and left the game in Bob Hartkop's hands, unfortunately it weren't one of Bobby's better days so Captain Steve brought in Doug Meyer who put out the fire.

Dave Chilcote had a double and single to lead Yomuiri with Doug Rusch's two single day. John Haines, Matt Schmuck, Count Montelatto, and Billy Doherty each belted bingles to round out Yomuiri's day.

Scott Pimpl, Jim Realini, Doug Meyer, Bob Hartkop, Dave Decruz, and Heath Keller each made singles for San Francisco's attack.

Game #3
Philadelphia
A's (Mello-Luis) 10 vs Oakland (Boomer-Vigil) A's 8 (8 innings)
by Mike
Mello

I think I Can say this for all the A's Guy's from both sides of the Diamond. WELCOME BACK EDDIE.
It was good to see you Sunday. And It looks like you'll be back soon, lean and mean and ready to tear up the ball field once again. All of us on both A's teams wish you a speedy Recovery and can't wait to have you back Playing again. It was a Breezy cool day, perfect weather for Baseball And Eddy Contreras was at the game just licking his chops to get off the DL list. Unfortunately, One of the A's teams had to lose and one had to win. It was a close game and could have gone either way if 9 innings were played. Anyway, this game is in the history book now, so let's just reflect on the recap and highlights of the game.
In the top of the 1st inning The Oakland A's Took advantage of "Hoop" trying to settle in on the mound. with some patient at bats drawing 4 walks and Hits from "Dangerous" Dave Vigil and a RBI hit going to "That a Boy" Dave Calhoun with another RBI walk going to the ''Comish'' Ed Glover, The Oaks pushed 3 runs across the plate before the side was retired. The Phili A's came up and Fought back hard with the Phili's lead of batter Pat Macias smoking a deep triple shot to right field, Gordon Yosti followed with a walk, Craig Alexander Smacked a RBI single. Coach Ba Ba Luis drew another walk. Gary Hopper reached base on an error causing 2 more A's runs to cross the dish. That was about All the Phili's could muster up in the 1st. After 1 Full, the game is all tied up at 3 apiece.
Into the 2nd. Gary Hoop Settled in nicely on the mound and only faced 3 Oakland Batters in the top of the 2nd. The Phili A's got the bats crankin in the lower 1/2 of the inning. Chris Dorn led off the 1st inning grounding out then things broke loose, Felix "BaBa" Lu hustled out a base hit and Kelly Albertson followed with another Hit. 3 fingers Mello drew a base on balls loading them all up. Patrick "My Man" Macias followed Mello with a RBI single, Yosti Followed with another RBI single. Alexander and Luis drew walks, Bringing up Steve Bennett. Bennett, smacked a hard liner to third pushing another run across. Rod "New" Oehrlein Pooped a Rbi base hit as well. The Phili's had batted around and ended up pushing 6 runs across the plate in the 2nd. Into the 3rd. Mark "Welcome Back" Fitzpatrick Lead the Oakland A's 3rd off with a base hit, Ken "Heide Ho" Calloway followed with a base on balls, Kevin "The Men's Warehouse" Zimmerman reached base on a Fielders choice by virtue of Rod "New" Oehrleins Major league diving stop in the hole at short throwing out Fitzy at 3rd. Not much else happened for the Oaks in the3rd. In the bottom of the 3rd not much went on for the Phili's Except for CHRIS DORN'S 1ST HIT OF THE YEAR, A 2 BAGGER. That was the only Phili Highlight of there at bat. Into the 4th, Hoop pitched the 4th inning well only facing 4 batters and hitting Lino Amaral with a brush back pitch. Not much else went on for the Oaks in the 4th. With good pitching coming from Mark Fitzpatrick of the Oaks,The Phili's Managed only 1 run in the bottom of the 4th with only 1 hit going to Craig Alexander. Into the 5th The Oakland A's begin to crank it up a notch at the plate. Mark Fitzy reached 1st on a 3rd base Phili error. Hoop Hit Zimm with another brush back pitch, only by accident Hoop Said. Now here comes the COMISH TO THE DISH, Ed Glover pounded a single base shot to push the runners up. Boomer "I'm In stitches" Aboumarad nailed a nice 2 base, 2 Rbi hit at the right time. "That a Boy" Dave Calhoun followed with a nice hit up the middle for 2 hits on the day. That was about all the damage the Oaks could do in the 5th. Mark Fitzpatrick threw well from the mound for the Oaks in the bottom of the 5th, only facing 3 Phili batters. Into the 6th The Oakland A's managed to push another run across the plate in the 6th with hit's by "Jay" Lino Amaral and Mark Patrickfitz Mark, To inch a little closer to Phili's lead. For The Philadelphia A's in the 6th Mike "I'm in stitches too" Mello ( just like his Buddy Boomer), lead off with a nicely placed towering bunt and hustled out an infield hit to Start of the inning just to be left stranded at 1st. That was all the offense the Phili's delivered in the 6th. Into the 7th. The Oaks only rallied for 1 Hit by "The Comish" Ed Glover in the 7th only to be shut down by a Phili Double Play and good pitching by Dave "Gamer" Gamson. The Phili A's followed by drawing only 1 hit By Coach Luis Then the next 3 batters were shut down in order with really good pitching by Craig Nolan "Ryan" . Into the top of the 8th with game time running thin. The Oakland A's were fighting back pretty hard and really threatening to close the score gap With hits by "Big Bad" Russ Greenfield and Mark Fitzpatrick. 1 run crossed the plate for the Oaks in the 8th narrowing the score gap and making for a good tight game, but after 3 outs were called the Blue's brother's called the game on time. This was a good game which could have gone either way if 9 innings were played. Great game Everyone it was fun !!!!.
