KANGAROO COURT

This weekend the mythical fantasy champions, the San Francisco Giants clinched the title of legends in their own minds. While we didn't exactly "win it for Willie" we did find out later that Willie was conspiring with his doctors to get his name on one of them cloth bats. Willie it is too soon for you and what are you doing with a blood pressure higher than your batting average. Golf's the game where you hit your age.

930 Game

San Francisco Giants 9 vs. New York Giants 1

The San Francisco Giants came up with a new formula for winning today: pitch Frank Weishaar for the first three followed by the slimmed down Heath Keller. The real secret is to catch the ball behind Frank and the SF boys certainly did today. The Giants pounded the New York pitchers for 16 hits to ice the victory and clinch the mythical bragging rights for this year. Hat's off to William Winberg and Don DeWitt, especially Don who skillfully listened to the advice of a half-dozen coaches who incessantly provided advice on every aspect of the game this season.

Lead-off batter, Captain Steve Bennett led the Giant Champs with 3 solid singles and a lead-off double. Heath Keller belted two doubles and a single behind Steve to flummox the New York guys. John "BHL" Haines smacked a double and a single in pursuit of his 100-hit season. Frank Weishaar, Chad Caliendo, and Colonel Realini each had two-bingle days to keep up the fire on New York. Greg Terra and Moochy Hughey topped off the attack with a single apiece. Don DeWitt managed two acrobatic HBP his first times up to entertain the fans.

The only remaining questions for the San Francisco team are will they finish 11-4 and where's the victory party!?!

1 PM Game

Oakland A's 13 vs. Elk Grove Giants 5

Elk Grove was up for the game but the A's were even higher. Bobby Hartkop pitched at least 14 outs worth of stuff over three innings, in other words the Elks were not the BPOE behind Bobby. Bobby led the Grovers with a double and a single while Hugh Dog contributed two singles. The Elks did muster individual singles from Geoff Jacobs, Chuck Arthur, Dave Montelatto, Dave DeCruz, Tom "I feel good" SanFillippo, Captain Steve Bennett (filling in as a part-time pool player for the recently departed Randy Saladana), Doug Penney, and Colonel Realini. That's it, the beer was okay at the Flat Iron.
