WCFB has a new "mythical" champion, the Yomuiri Giants led by Matt Schmuck and Mike Miller. Cool guys who play the game with respect and have a good time. Congratulations. This weekend saw both the '62 Giants late surge and the Saint Louis mythical defenders of the '06 title fall short of the "title" and now find themselves in awell-deserved battle for the legendary second place honors for the WCFBA in 2007.

My apologies to the reader's of this site for the delay, this past week saw the loss of my hard drive, loss of my DSN service, Back-to-School Night, and the misplacement of my notes.... I'm recovered and thanks for your understanding.

Yomuiri Giants (Schmuck-Miller) 2 vs Saint Louis Giants (Hughey-Weishaar) 1

In an exciting, well-played game with the title on the line, the Yomuiri Giants rode the pitching of Carl "Chainsaw" Vargas (6innings) and Dave "Bad Chilly" Chilcote (3 innings) to an exciting 2-1 win. Mark Bruzzone (6inngs) matched Carl and Lynn LeFevre squared off against Chilly for the Giant Birdmen.

Chilly led Yomuiri with a double and a single while Chet Arthur blasted a monster triple for Yomuiri. Six Japanese Giants: Carl Vargas, Dave Montelatto, Scott Leuders, Mr. Lanterman, Rick Travis, and Joe Matlen belted singles for Yomiuri.

Mark Bruzzone valiantly socked three singles to lead the St Louie Team and Eric "Pool Boy" MacAusland chipped in two singles of his own. Michael Simon smacked a long double to right center with Frank Weishaar, Mike Hughey, and Scott Hudson rounding out the St Louis attack with singles.

Philadelphia A's 10 (Luis) vs '62 Giants (Terralini's) 7 (8 innings)

This was a wild two-part affair with the A's handing the Giants a big lead early and then getting handed right back on an incredibly *&^D$#@ play by Bad Chilly in the sixth. Randy Wallace and Don Han toiled courageously on the mound for the Giant's but read on and see what happened....

In the top of the 1st The Hoop Pitched well, only facing 4 Giant Batters before the side was retired with 8-6-4 double play and a strike out by 1 of the Giants best, Mr. Matt Schmuck. The A's sent 5 batters to the dish and were turned away with nothing as well. Into the 2nd the Giants pushed 2 runs across the plate from a drilled hit by the Giants pitcher "The Hahn's Device". The A's Countered in the 2nd with a walk and an error charged to the Giants 2nd baseman which put 2 A's runners on. Into the Box steps Felix "Ba Ba Luzuki" the A's Catcher ( Not related to The Real A's Catcher ). F "Ba Ba" Luzuki Had to show up Brother C Ba Ba Lu from L.A. How the monster shots to right field Should be hit, to get an RBI and to also get on base with a stand up Double. C Ba Ba Lu from L.A. Take Note And don't let it get caught next time when you hit a monster shot like that. Anyways the A's ended up scoring 1 in the 2nd, Making the score 2 to 1 Giants. Into the 3rd. The Giants put a couple of walks,a hit Batsman and a couple of 2 base hits by De Cruz and The Chiller together to push 5 runs across the plate With 2 RBI's each going to these 2 Giant HomeBoy's. The A's were Skunked in the 3rd sending 5 batters to the plate for a big zero. Into the 4th. The Giants sent 7 batters to the plate and only were rewarded with 1 run with a nice double going to "Baby Huey" Hughey. The A's picked up a couple of runs to quietly inch closer to the Giants run reserve. Gary "Hoop" Hopper led off with a line drive up the Middle. Mello yellow liked Hoop's hit so much he did the same thing, A Line drive up the middle. Brother C Ba Ba Luzuki from the Bay Area drew a walk then Kelly Albertsen just up from Sacramento AAA pushed the runners up by reaching base on a fielders choice and an error, in which the A's scored 1 more. My My "My Man"Macias drew a walk then Craig Alexander "Thee Great" pounded a RBI single, Making the score 7 to 3 Giants. Into the 5th. The Giants drew a couple of walks but were Turned away with nothing, by excellent pitching from Mike "By By" Byron. By By Byron Led off the A's 5th by Punching a base hit through. Dandy Don Coach Luis smoked a single base hit through, The Hoopster reached on a fielder choice , The Mello Man punched a rare flair to the right side for another hit. The A's pushed Hoops and 'Yo Yo" Mello across for 2 more runs, Tightening up the score even tighter After 5 full the A's 5 and the Giants a little more. The Giants in the 6th only sent 3 batters to the plate for no reason, this seamed to wake up the A's crew. Patrick "Ironside" Macias started off the A's 6th with a base punch, Rod New Oehrleins followed with another base hit knock, Mike Byron Reached on an error by the Giants 3rd baseman. Since the bases are now loaded The Great Hoop drew a RBI walk. This Walk to Hoop kept the bases jammed. You could now see the tension in the Eyes of all the Giants in the Field as Mello yellow stepped into the Box. Well, Mello yellow was day dreaming in the batters box about a Chilling experience, after 2 strikes and a 0 and 2 count, He decided to make that dream come true by Drilling a deep 2 base hit, base clearing 3 RBI drive to center field on a cheating in Bad Chilly. Bad Chilly was sneaking in trying to catch our guy nappin' off second base, Mike swung at a really high pitch foiling the sneaky Giants and embarrasing Bad Chilly. Then the "Gamer" Dave Gamson strolled to the plate and pounded another RBI single Making the Score 10 for the A's and not enough for the Giants. The Giants Didn't score in the 7th, The A's Rod New Oherleins drilled a hit in the bottom of the 7th but the A's couldn't bring Him around to score. Now the Giants are coming to the plate. They loaded the bases up with 2 straight walks and a base hit, With the A's only leading by 1 run with no outs. Now the Tension swung over to the A's team. Craig Alexander helped put the game to rest by snatching a line drive shot to 3rd and then tagging 3rd for a double play " HOLY TOLEDO " The game ended on a fly ball to left field to preserve a much needed A's win. it was a Great Game from both Teams, and again, if 9 innings were played the game could have gone either way.
